Opening Reception  Friday June 2, 7 – 9:30pm

Ceramics - Arts Dundas Weekend Emerging Artist Exhibition.

Adriana Romkes is a local artist who grew up on the Niagara Escarpment. She is inspired by the energies of the wildlife around her and the spiritual or universal connection we have with nature and the environment. She wishes to draw, paint, sculpt, photograph and write about it. Adriana was inspired to make owls when she was visited by a Great Horned Owl in the fall of 2013. These owls are her initial foray into sculpting with clay techniques acquired through pottery classes and studio time at the Dundas Valley School of Art. With each piece she tries new construction methods, styles, glazing and firing techniques. Each sculpture is one of a kind, with its own unique personality and characteristics. She is just beginning to understand something about this very forgiving yet challenging medium.
