Theatre Ancaster is a community musical theatre company with a reputation for quality productions.  Our mandate is to present excellent quality live musical theatre to the community and to assist in the development of musical theatre among the adults and youth of the community.

Little Red Riding Hood + Happy Times Nursery Rhymes

Studio Babette Puppet Theatre is featured at Ancaster Heritage Days for more puppet fun! Join Studio Babette as they perform two of their acclaimed shows as part of the Ancaster Heritage Days Kidsworld. The company will perform Little Red Riding Hood at 12:15 pm and Happy Times Nursery Rhymes at 1:30pm.

The third annual Hamilton Arts Week closes out with #ArtCrawl!

Join us Friday June 9 from 7-9pm where we will be closing out this year's annual civic celebration of the arts in partnerhsip with our friends at the AGH Annex as part of the June #ArtCrawl.

This Closing celebration will be part of the AGH Annex's special #ArtCrawl presentation of Jay Soule, a.k.a. Chippewar. This indigenous artist who is quickly establishing himself with his bold, graffiti style and the drive to keep Native people and their heritage in the mind’s-eye of our social consciousness. Chippewar will be presenting the latest in his series of mock-horror film posters as a pop-up exhibition, and will speaking about art, activism, and contemporary Indigenous issues.

Learn improv comedy in a fun and supportive environment. Experienced improv comedy teachers from Staircase Improv will guide participants through the basics of improv comedy. Artword Theatre: Dance Showcase
Wednesday to Friday, June 21 to 23, 2017, at 8 pm, $10.
Artword Theatre presents a Contemporary Dance Showcase, curated by dancer-choreographer Learie Mc Nicolls. The program will be repeated for three evenings, with special guests. Featured is a new work, Duets for a Partner, choreographed and danced by Learie Mc Nicolls with Tanis Macarthur. This work features a visual design by Judith Sandiford, with real-time projections (photo left)

The third annual Hamilton Arts Week is here!

Join us Saturday June 3 from 1-3pm where we will be kicking off this annual civic celebration of the arts.

In its first year, Hamilton Arts Week saw a busy week of arts events presented by over 50 partnering arts organizations, with awareness driven by ad campaigns and online engagement. Our second year saw even more community events along with our Opening Launch, the City of Hamilton Arts Awards After Party, and a Closing Celebration. Join us for remarks, light refreshments courtesy of Durand Coffee and Nellie James and live music - and enjoy the new exhibitions at the Carnegie Gallery!

Featuring live performances by local artist Michael Kras who will perform magic and Ingrid Mayrhofer who will be doing a participatory print-making workshop.

Culture for Kids in the Arts (CKA) announces the Canada 150 project launch of  I Have A Right… / J’ai Un Droit…, to hear young citizens’ voices, to call on 150 notable Canadians for a response to the Hamilton Charter of Rights of Children and Youth, and to turn the tide of awareness, attention, and action towards the well-being of Canada’s future generations. 

Kids can see 150 years ahead… O Canada, can you hear the stories of tomorrow?

You are welcome to attend our public launch event on June 1st, 2017 from 11am-12pm at the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts, 126 James Street South, Hamilton ON. 

The 2015 renewal of the Hamilton Charter of Rights of Children and Youth was a huge sucess therefore bringing more attention to the gaps in the Canadian understanding of childrens rights.

The Hamilton Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB), in partnership with Theatre Ancaster, is undertaking its ninth major musical theatre production from February to June 2017. The classic story of Ariel the Little Mermaid will be presented by the students of the ArtSMART Co-op Musical Theatre Program.
