Founded in 1914, the Art Gallery of Hamilton is the oldest and largest public art gallery in southwestern Ontario. Its permanent collection, which is focused on historical Canadian, 19th-century European and Contemporary art, now numbers more than 10,000 works and is recognized as one of the finest in Canada.

The AGH is a vital creative hub and centre of lifelong learning that enables people of all ages to enrich their lives by gaining a deeper understanding of art.

Colour Theory and Mixing with Diana Gordon

Through a variety of fun painting exercises, Diana Gordon will provide you with a solid knowledge of Colour Theory, a clear understanding of how to use colour principles in painting and confidence that you can mix exactly the right colour when you need it.

We have 9 stellar theatrical productions on site this year making The Staircase a kick butt satellite hub and helping the Hamilton Fringe extend it’s footprint into new communities in the greater Hamilton area. In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Carnegie Gallery, Dundas Museum & Archives and Dundas Valley School of Art have commissioned 24 local artists to choose an archival image of Dundas from the Museum’s collection and respond with an artwork of their own. This free exhibition, held at each site, celebrates the history and creative spirit of Dundas, a community unique to Canada.

Exhibition runs July 4 – 30, 2017.

Mould Making

Ever wish you could clone something? We’ll show you how!

In this introductory mould making class you will be supplied with the materials and know how to make a true to life copy. Alginate will be used to make a waste-mould of your hand. From there we will do a plaster casting and by the end of the class you will be going home with an incredibly personal and modern mantle piece. Great as a class to take with your loved one!

No prior experience necessary! The only prerequisite is being OK getting your hands a little dirty.
