Join in the celebration of several Hamilton Artists displaying some of their works the week of June 7 from 1 to 5 pm. Artists will be doing some demonstration, painting and sculpting, and pottery --- and we are able to offer tea and other light beverages in the garden and gallery while browsing an interesting array of works.

The Gallery and Studio Space owner, Eva Ivanov, is opening up her space for the Hamilton Arts Week, to showcase a few, of the many talented artists in Hamilton to showcase some of their selected works, and provide some art demos during the week. The Gallery is located on Catharine Street North, between Cannon and Wilson.

Workshop: How to Smash a Project Grant 

Course Description: Grant-writing can be intimidating. The forms! The questions! THE BUDGET! This workshop aims to empower you, the writer, by sharing the knowledge and tools you’ll need to SMASH your project grant. In this 90 minute crash-course, participants will explore the basics of any good project grant, breaking down the application process into manageable steps and leaving the session feeling capable and confident. Learn to articulate your project clearly and get funding to bring your art into the world!

Instructor: Jessica Lea Fleming is of Métis (Wendat, Anishinaabe and French) and Scottish descent, from Penetanguishene, Ontario. She is a writer, dramaturge, producer, director and arts manager based in Toronto and Hamilton. Jessica currently works as the Operations Manager for the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts, as the Georgian Bay Community Liaison for the Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance, and as a Producer for Factory Media Centre’s Traditional Recipes: Food and Filmmaking project. Jessica recently completed post-production on her first short film Scales, and hopes to premiere it at festivals this year!

Course Description: In this workshop you will learn the basics of Adobe Premiere. Fancy things like setting up your project, organizing footage and bins, using short cuts, syncing audio, adding and modifying transitions and effects, etc. It’s all about getting comfortable with the program so you can edit to the best of your abilities.

Instructor: Devin Bateson is a freelance video editor and filmmaker. He is part of the sketch troupe Aunt Francis. They won the “Local Filmmakers Award” from the Hamilton Comedy Film Fest 2015. He’s been using Adobe Premiere before it and he were cool. Now he is very cool. He swears it.

Douglas and Hilary Leung, two other popular Canadian children’s book author/illustrators will join Reid in this show, bringing their diverse perspectives and styles to celebrating the fine art of parenting!

The third annual Hamilton Arts Week closes out with #ArtCrawl!

Join us Friday June 9 from 7-9pm where we will be closing out this year's annual civic celebration of the arts in partnerhsip with our friends at the AGH Annex as part of the June #ArtCrawl.

This Closing celebration will be part of the AGH Annex's special #ArtCrawl presentation of Jay Soule, a.k.a. Chippewar. This indigenous artist who is quickly establishing himself with his bold, graffiti style and the drive to keep Native people and their heritage in the mind’s-eye of our social consciousness. Chippewar will be presenting the latest in his series of mock-horror film posters as a pop-up exhibition, and will speaking about art, activism, and contemporary Indigenous issues.

The third annual Hamilton Arts Week is here!

Join us Saturday June 3 from 1-3pm where we will be kicking off this annual civic celebration of the arts.

In its first year, Hamilton Arts Week saw a busy week of arts events presented by over 50 partnering arts organizations, with awareness driven by ad campaigns and online engagement. Our second year saw even more community events along with our Opening Launch, the City of Hamilton Arts Awards After Party, and a Closing Celebration. Join us for remarks, light refreshments courtesy of Durand Coffee and Nellie James and live music - and enjoy the new exhibitions at the Carnegie Gallery!

Featuring live performances by local artist Michael Kras who will perform magic and Ingrid Mayrhofer who will be doing a participatory print-making workshop.
